Connected TV most popular in coastal and Great Lakes states

Many coastal states are the biggest consumers of connected TV.

Although connected TV is currently the most heavily-used form of technology for viewing videos in the United States, advertisers may be interested in which states have the densest markets for smart TV.

According to Frank N. Magid Associates, connected TV usage is heaviest in states that border a major body of water. This tracks roughly with overall population, which tends to be concentrated along major coastlines: All states with the heaviest use of smart TV technology are on the East or West Coast, or are Midwestern states that border the Great Lakes. An infographic from the source shows that connected TV viewing is heaviest in the states of Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas and New York to the south and East; California and Washington to the West; and Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania around the Great Lakes.

While Frank N. Magid Associate's results follow patterns of population density, not all areas that see high levels of connected TV adoption are major urban centers. Notable exceptions include a number of northeastern states such as Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey, as well as southern states like Tennessee.
