America's Hispanic population is among the fastest growing minority groups in the country, and video and online advertisers are taking note. According to Advertising Age's white paper, "Hispanic Fact Pack 2012," spending on Hispanic major media advertisements on the internet experienced 25 percent growth between 2010 and 2011. In addition, more than one-fifth of Hispanic respondents said they use social media sites to spread the word about products or brands they like. Fewer non-Hispanic respondents said this about social media. Twenty-two percent of Hispanic respondents said they follow favorite brands through social media, which was well above the 16 percent of non-Hispanic respondents who said they do so. However, underscoring just how widespread the multi-device trend is, 25 percent of both Hispanic and non-Hispanic respondents said they use a variety of devices to access social networks. Advertising executives looking to make a deeper mark through Hispanic-oriented ads may want to focus their attention on adolescents and young adults. Advertising Age found that the largest percentage of the U.S. Hispanic population is younger than 40. |
