Users of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are likely to use a computer to make a purchase based off of a mobile ad, according to one survey.

A significant number of users of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are likely to use a computer to make a purchase based off of a mobile ad, even if they only watch part of the ad, according to Nielsen.

Twenty-two of smartphone owners and 25 percent of tablet owners said they made an online purchase via a PC after viewing an ad on their mobile device. In comparison, 14 percent of smartphone users and 17 percent of people with a tablet said they have clicked to view a full ad on their chosen mobile device.

In addition, the report looked at opinions regarding location-based mobile advertising. Of those polled, 30 percent said they thought location-based ads provided them with more information than standard ads. Those 34 and younger especially found such advertising to be informative.

All told, mobile advertising spending is expected to rise greatly over the next years. According to eMarketer, about $2.6 billion will be spent on mobile ads in the United States. By 2016, eMarketer said, it expects such spending to reach $11 billion.
