A well-worded title can drastically increase the number of views video ads get by creating interest and intrigue, according to one article. Chris Atkinson, in an August 14 article for ReelSEO, wrote that sometimes a video's title generates viewer interest regardless of the quality of the video. As an example of this principle, Atkinson cited one of the latest viral videos sweeping the internet. Within two days of that video being posted to YouTube, it had close to 12,000 "likes" and more than 1.1 million views. The key to the video's success is not the content, Atkinson wrote, but rather that the video's title has only four words, including a popular search term. "This may be the funniest video ever that doesn't actually have anything all that funny in the video itself," he said. "Everything about it is simple SEO, paying off." Video advertisers can learn from this viral success, namely that a short video with an instantly memorable name can capture a viewer's interest, according to Atkinson. "While it is important to have a snappy, memorable title to your video it is just as important for your video title to contain a keyword for searches," Timothy Lorang, an SEO expert, wrote in a 2011 blog post. |
