YuMe Q3 Video Advertising Report Shows Significant Growth in Completion Rates Over 2009

 
Pre-roll Sees More than 75% Completion While CPG Marketers Dominate with 32% of All Spending  
 
REDWOOD CITY, CA – December 1, 2010 – YuMe, a leading video advertising technology company, today released its Q3 Video Advertising Metrics Report. YuMe serves an average of 30 million video ad impressions per day on behalf of the 600+ publishers utilizing its technology platform, ACE, as well as publishers who are members of the YuMe video ad network. The report outlines key data and trends seen for in-stream video advertising across YuMe’s premium video advertising network from January through September, 2010. 
 
“There is no question that video advertising has seen huge growth, presenting both advertisers and publishers alike with incredible opportunities,” said Jayant Kadambi, president and co-founder of YuMe. “As consumers turn to online video across all platforms, marketers are moving dollars and creative to the web and we expect this trend to grow into 2011 as online advertising grows.”
 
KEY FINDINGS
Completion rates
  • Video completion rate for pre-roll grew to 75% in Q3, up nearly 10% from 2009 and continuing an upward trend seen all year.
    • 15-second pre-rolls continue to be the most common ad length, representing 59% of pre-roll volume.
    • Completion rates in Q3 for the 25-49 age group are especially strong with a more than 20% increase from Q1 to 68%.
    • Women have a higher video completion rate at 75% versus 69% for Men.
Industries
  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) marketers dominate the online video advertising volume with 32% of all spending year to date. With Auto and Entertainment trailing with nearly equivalent spends of 11% each.  
 
Methodology
 
YuMe serves ads on behalf of the 600+ publishers utilizing its video ad management system ACE for Publishers (AFP), as well as publishers who are members of its video ad network. YuMe statistics presented in this report are generated from data recorded with every ad request and ad served across the YuMe network and received by AFP. The statistics are solely representative of YuMe’s network and may not be a reflection of the overall online video marketplace.
