We understand that you want to buy effective online video advertising campaigns without worrying that your valuable brand will appear alongside objectionable content. By focusing on premium publishers, enforcing high content standards, and creating proactive technology to prevent ads from running in undesirable syndicated environments, we are able to deliver the most comprehensive safeguards available to advertisers for online video campaigns.
Every prospective YuMe publisher must undergo a thorough review to ensure that its video content is professionally produced and brand-appropriate. We regularly audit the sites and syndication domains of publishers to ensure that they continue to meet our standards.
We have created proprietary technology that can collect detailed information about the in-page environment of a syndicated video player when it makes an ad request. This industry-first capability—made possible by broad publisher adoption of YuMe's ACE technology—allows us to prevent ads from running in players embedded on sites that we have determined to be unacceptable, and to work with publishers to constantly monitor and improve the list of sites where their syndicated and user-embeddable video players are appearing.
To protect our customers' brands, YuMe maintains a constantly growing blacklist of more than 500,000 domains contain inappropriate content. When we receive an ad request from a video player, we use our domain-detection capabilities to confirm that the player is not embedded on a blacklisted domain before serving an ad.
We review every site that a YuMe publisher claims as an authorized syndication partner, and create a formal list of YuMe-reviewed syndication domains for every publisher. When a YuMe publisher's player makes an ad request from a YuMe-reviewed domain, we will serve the best ad available. Using a proprietary algorithm, we assign a syndication quality score to each YuMe publisher, based on how well ads served into its syndicated players perform for advertisers, and on whether the publisher has ever requested an ad for an inappropriate domain. If a publisher player makes an ad request from a new domain that is not on our blacklist, that domain is flagged for review by YuMe staff. We use syndication quality scores to determine whether to serve ads when publisher video players make ad requests from new domains. We closely monitor our publishers' syndication quality scores, and regularly encourage publishers to offer greater campaign performance to advertisers by removing their players from lower-performing domains.
